1 Cubic Yard = 13.5 of the 2 Cubic Feet bags of mulch from a big box store.

A Cubic Yard is equivalent to a 3'x3'x3' Cube. 3' tall walls x 3' wide walls on all four sides.

CUBIC YARD COVERAGE:
2 Inches deep = 120 square feet (Ex. 10' wide x 16' long area)
3 Inches deep = 100 square feet (Ex. 10' wide x 10' long area)
4 Inches deep = 80 square feet (Ex. 8' wide x 10' long area)

Length x Width / sf(square feet) of inches wanted = #cubic yards

EXAMPLE:
Area 1: 50' x 5' = 250sf
Area 2: 10' x 8' = 80sf
Area 3: 200' x 10' = 2000sf

2" Deep:
2330sf / 120sf = 19 cubic yards (round up, 20 yards)
3" Deep:
2330sf / 100sf = 23.3 cubic yards (round up, 24 cubic yards)

4" Deep:
2330sf / 80sf = 29.2 cubic yards (round up, 30 cubic yards)
